WhistleStop.. Late Night Savior

Ever woke up hungry in the middle of the night with no food in the fridge or in the pantry? Oh I hate that feeling! All you are left with are those 24 hrs fast food. Thank God for 24/7 retaurants.
I was browsing the net when I stumbled upon Whistlestop. According to what I read Whistlestop was established in 1977. They were serving good food until 2005 when the owner decided to migrate in the US. I didn’t get to try them before. Fortunately Lex Ledesma and Dennis Gan reopened the Whistlestop. Buti na lang! Now I can try their food.

It was 11 pm in Makati when my partner and I got hungry. We were looking for a place to eat that is not a fast food chain. First thing we thought was WhistleStop. We immediately rode a cab going to their Jupiter branch. It was late night but people keep coming in.
Nice place. Good interior. It gives you the nostalgic feel because of the decors and picture of the train in London. They have an open place for those who drink and smoke. Well since we don’t smoke we prefer to dine in their enclosed area. No smoke plus it’s cooler. They have couple of flat screen TV for some entertainment.
As soon as we were seated, their attentive crew approached us for the menu. They have few pages menu but I already know what to order. I came prepared. Hehehe..
We ordered Buffalo Chicken wings. I am a chicken wings addict and this didn’t disappoint. It was truly finger licking good. It’s not spicy though. I like my buffalo wings a little bit spicy. The sauce is good too. It has a taste of mustard which I like. This serving has 8 pieces of wings. Not bad for Php 175 right?

I always love Hainanese Chicken. Their chicken is served with a sweet sauce on top. And as usual it comes with chili sauce, kecap manis (sweet soy cauce) and grated ginger and garlic sauce. The rice topped with chicken is full of flavor. I am not a fan of ginger but surprisingly I enjoyed the grated ginger and garlic sauce.

My partner ordered Beef Salpicao with Garlic Rice. The beef was cooked medium rare. My partner like the beef well done but we still enjoyed it. It has lots of garlic which we like. Love the buttery and garlicky flavor. Their beef salpicao is in big serving with a cup of rice.

We enjoyed our meal with Whistlestop Iced tea and Lychee Iced tea. I love them both but Lychee Iced tea is exceptional. It has a sweet and fruity aroma. Actually kaamoy niya yung Silka papaya na soap (hehehe) but of course it tastes like lychee.

We really liked our experience with Whistlestop. The dishes are flavourful in good servings with an affordable price. We are definitely going back!
